26% of teens in a romantic relationship said their partners had digitally abused them during the previous year using social media, emails, and text messages. Digital abuse rarely happens in isolation; 84% of teens who report digital abuse say their partners also psychologically abused them, 52% say they were also physically abused, and 33% say they were also sexually coerced. Furthermore, research indicates that the severity of adult intimate partner violence is often greater in cases where the pattern of abuse was established in adolescence.

In response to the enormous need for youth focused prevention education, WomenShelter of Long Beach (WSLB) is hosting its second annual Building Healthy Relationships through Prevention Education Youth Conference (BHR Youth Conference) on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 9:30am-2:45pm in recognition of National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM).

Admission to the conference is free and open to high school students, college students, adult caregivers, and service providers.
