Join Rancho Los Cerritos and Puente Latino Association for an unforgettable Día De Los Muertos celebration filled with culture, music, art, and tradition. This family-friendly event is the perfect opportunity to honor and remember loved ones who have passed in a vibrant and meaningful way. Enjoy a full day of performances, arts and crafts, and traditional ofrendas (altars) while indulging in delicious food and soaking in the festive atmosphere.
We encourage all guests to dress up as Catrinas or Catrines and be part of the beautiful celebration that honors life and death.
Event Highlights:
Live Music Performances:
Marimba Tropical (2:15 – 3:15 p.m.):
A traditional ensemble that brings the sounds of Latin American marimba music to life, Marimba Tropical plays vibrant, rhythmic tunes that have delighted audiences for years. Known for their authentic performance style, they capture the festive spirit of Día De Los Muertos perfectly.
Folklor America (3:30 – 4:30 p.m.):
This local folkloric dance troupe showcases the rich diversity of Mexican dance traditions, blending intricate choreography with colorful costumes and lively music. Folklor America is dedicated to preserving and sharing the beauty of traditional Mexican dances, from the lively “Jarabe Tapatío” to other regional favorites.
Sonsoles (5:00 – 7:00 p.m.):
With a passion for blending Latin rhythms and world music, Sonsoles is a high-energy band that will keep you dancing well into the evening. Their music combines elements of cumbia, salsa, and Latin rock, creating an irresistible sound that celebrates the spirit of the holiday.
DJ Gman & Hawkeye in the Vendor/Crafts Village (All Day):
The Vendor/Crafts Village will be buzzing with the sounds of DJ Gman and Hawkeye, who will bring a fusion of Latin beats, dub disco, and eclectic rhythms to keep the energy high throughout the day. Whether you’re shopping for unique artisan goods or participating in arts and crafts, their music will be the perfect backdrop.
DJ Gman has built a reputation as one of the most versatile DJs, with deep knowledge of Latin and international music. His sets are known to uplift spirits and energize crowds with a seamless blend of styles.
DJ Hawkeye from Headinghome Recordings is a seasoned DJ with a passion for dub disco, eclectic, and techno sounds. For Día De Los Muertos, he’ll be curating a unique set infused with Latin influences, ensuring a lively and dynamic atmosphere in the Vendor/Crafts Village.
Activities for All Ages:
Crown Making Craft (All Day):
Unleash your creativity with our crown-making activity! Craft your own beautiful flower crowns, a traditional symbol in Día De Los Muertos celebrations, and wear them proudly as part of your Catrina or Catrin attire.
Face Painting (All Day):
No Día De Los Muertos celebration would be complete without the iconic face paint designs. Skilled artists will be on hand to transform your face into a stunning representation of a Catrina or Catrin, or a design of your choice inspired by Mexican folk art.
Día De Los Muertos Book Reading (4:30 – 5:00 p.m.):
Gather around for a special book reading that explores the cultural significance of Día De Los Muertos. This is a wonderful opportunity for families and children to learn about the rich traditions behind this holiday, told through beautiful stories.
Food & Beverage:
Delicious food will be available for purchase, and for guests 21 and over, beer and wine will be served throughout the event. Make sure to bring a valid ID if you plan to enjoy the adult beverages!
