Chavela (2017) tells the story of the pioneering life of Costa Rican singer Chavela Vargas (b.1919-2012). Chavela Vargas firstly gained popularity in Mexico in the 1960’s and then worldwide. The film explores Vargas’s life and career, including Chavela’s 🧡 lesbian 🩷 romances and game-changing triumphs dismantling gender roles and the patriarchy.
